Scent Trends: Fall 2017 Wake Up & Smell the Chocolate

What is everyone craving this season?  Warm dark chocolate and strong coffee.  These heady fragrances are finding their way personal fragrances, home aromas, and beauty products.

Americans’ affinity for coffee has led to a variety of fragrances inspired by this buzzy ingredient. Everyone from Britany Spears to Ralph Lauren launched a fragrance with coffee notes. The indie brand Kerosene launched a gourmand fragrance called Follow.  There is a little research that suggests that just the smell of coffee does have an impact on our brains.  Interestingly, in these studies, the smell had a calming effect on the brain.

As warmer scents continue to gain momentum, sophisticated gourmand fragrances with a focus on dark chocolate are emerging.Thierry Mugler’s Angel perfume launched Angel Mugler x La Maison du Chocolat.  This is particularly inspired by it's packaging with luxury chocolates - genius!

We see this warm trend in our guest creations.  These enveloping, personal scent blends are made of comforting scents with spicey notes.

Blends worth a whiff:

  • Dark Chocolate, Jasmine, and Cinnamon
  • Dark Chocolate, Patchouli, and vanilla
